According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, women over 55 are the fastest-growing segment of the U.S. workforce. Their participation rate has risen steadily for three decades—faster than any other demographic group.
The AARP “Older Women at Work” brief highlights that since 2000, the share of women 55+ in paid employment has nearly doubled. Many are returning after caregiving breaks, while others are staying longer out of passion, purpose, or financial need.
